The Life of the Pullman Porter

The African American community in Lincoln, Nebraska thrived in the late 1800 until early 2000s. The Malone and T-Town communities just east of the Univeristy City campus, were economically viable communities sustained  by railways jobs and the patronage of the railway passengers. 

This site tells the story of the Lincoln Pullman Porters and will explore their contributions to the downtown communities and the City of Lincoln,   through an exploration of documents, newspapers and artifacts from national and local museums, local African American newspapers,  and personal stories and community contributions.
