Lafayette Robinson was born in Virginia. He married Anna Robinson in 1911 in Salt Lake City and Anna worked as a janistress at a furniture store when they moved to Lincoln. They had one daughter Pearl Robinson and rented a home at 828 South Street in 1916 and then later purchased a home at 2135 South 10th Street, in the 20's.
