Biographical Text
Lester Washington was born in Kansas. His father was from Kentucky, and is mother from Illinois. In 1930's he was a lodger at 720 Q Street when he worked as a Pullman Porter. He married Ola Washington and the couple had one daughter Erma Washington and the couple rented a house at 1916 Vine Street for $23/month. He retired as a Pullman Porter and worked as a custodian at the Chamber of Commerce until his death in 1943.
